Mumbai court grants anticipatory bail to Republic TV COO Priya Mukherjee
At Mumbai, the Sessions Court permitted the pre-arrest bail application filed by Priya Mukherjee (Republic TV Chief Operating Officer) on Friday. Priya Mukherjee is an accused in the fake TRP (Television Rating Points) Scam case registered by the Mumbai police.
Court directed Priya Mukharjee to be released on a personal bond of rupees fifty thousand in case of an arrest. Court asked her to appear before the concerned police station once every week.
Previously, the Karnataka HC had provided transit bail for twenty days to Priya Mukherjee. After the period of twenty days, Priya Mukherjee had to approach the proper forum for relief, the HC had said. She filed an anticipatory bail application yesterday before the Sessions Court, apprehending arrest.
On December 5, the Sessions Court provided bail to Ghanshyam Singh (Republic TV’s Assistant Vice President) who was arrested on November 10, in connection with the fake TRP (Television Rating Points) Scam Case.
After Mumbai Police’s crime branch filed the charge sheet in the fake TRP (Television Rating Points) Scam case, both ARG outlier Media Private Limited which owns Republic TV and Arnab Goswami moved Bombay HC seeking the stay of the further probe by the Crime Intelligence Unit, DCB CID, Crime Branch in the TRP Scam Case.
In interim application, Petitioners have alleged that the probe in the fake TRP Scam Case is a witch hunt targeted at petitioners for its criticism of the Government.
